INTRODUCTION TO OASIS FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM FOR RESTAURANT OWNERS/MANAGERS
The Oasis Food Safety Program (“Program”) is a free, honor-based, food safety program to help assure customers that restaurant gluten-free offerings are indeed gluten-free.
As a reminder, for the millions of people who have celiac disease, eating gluten-free is not a choice. It is a medical treatment.
Benefits of participating in the Program:
Be listed as a safe gluten-free restaurant on our site and other sites which look to ours
Your restaurant will become more attractive to the millions of people who have to eat gluten-free
Utilize the Program emblem on your windows, menus and all of your marketing materials, including social media
The invite: When you are emailed an invitation or one is delivered by hand, the public part of the process begins. The name and address of the restaurant, (listed by each location of a chain), as well as the person who delivered the invite, will appear on our website. It will be noted when your restaurant agrees to participate in the Program.
Participation in the Program: To participate, it is required that:
The owner read The Oasis Restaurant Owners Safe Practices Manual
The person or people in charge of purchasing read the The Oasis Purchasing/Ordering Manual, currently available in English and Spanish.
Requires that all personnel involved in the operation of the restaurant and all new hires see the procedural video or read a downloadable version, and answer the quizzes at sign up – and repeat this procedure every six months thereafter as long as the Restaurant wishes to remain a participant in the Program.
Entitles your restaurant to upload three visuals including, at your choice, a copy of the menu, as well as a description of your offerings. Visuals and description may be changed from time to time.
Entitles your restaurant to use our emblem on all marketing, physical location and menus. The emblems are date sensitive and must be renewed each year.
To join the Program: Once you have completed the initial learning/training steps, agree to the Program terms and conditions by signing the Charlie’s Table Oasis Gluten-Free Food Safety Program Agreement.
Please note:
As incentive for you to join the Program, Charlie’s Table, our underwriter, is offering a one year, 15% discount on all fresh gluten-free pasta purchased through our online store.
Your customers will be able to rate their experience in your restaurant in a manner similar to online restaurant reviews. Customers will specifically be able to note a glutening incident.
While the actual procedures employed in your restaurant are on the honor system, you are advised to speak with a local attorney about the potential ramifications if you do not comply with the Program guidelines as well as local laws and regulations which may require additional procedures and physical facilities.
